The Return of Revs Fans

So the Qwest to Seattle begins... (I hope you like the play on words)

Just like the Revs 08 campaign, our season was cut a little short last season- Due mostly to computer problems. We return just in time for MLS firstkick. As you can see the site's layout and logo has changed, hope you like it. If not better luck next season.
  • Just a little MLS quick hits Seattle Sounders FC officially kicked off, with their first regular season game in MLS history. A 3-0 win over New York.
  • MLS has named Seattle to host the 2009 MLS Cup Championship at Qwest feild. (hence the play on words.
  • Philadelphia's MLS franchise still has no name or colors at this point. This will be announced Mid-April. Name finalists are 'AC Philadelphia', 'Philadelphia Union', 'SC Philadelphia' and 'Philadelphia City'. I'm personally hoping for Philadelphia Union, but it's probably going to be AC Philadelphia which isn't horrible either.
  • Both Vancouver and Portland were just named to receive MLS expansions in 2011. Which will make the Divisions uneven by two teams. So it's my speculation that the MLS will either move to a more traditional one table or split into three divisions- the latter is probably more likely. Also the two teams are going to be based off of the USL Division 1 teams of those cities, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Portland Timber. Vancouver is going to have a name vote competion (whitecaps being one of the names) and says they would like to retain some form of the name. Though the expansion was just named today Portland states that they will keep the same name and logo.
  • There are some very upset people in St. Louis for missing out on the second expansion team. Mainly because of the MLS draft being there, a lot of people in Gateway to the West say they feel misled... again. MLS says they will be considered in 2012 when two more teams will be added. Other cities with strong bids are Ottawa and Miami.
  • The MLS All Stars still have no opponets to play in Utah
Well thats it for now, The Revs will take on San Jose tomorrow night in their first regular season game.

It’s been a while since we’ve won a game so you know we feel like we are finally getting our legs back and we can kind of move forward and get something going here." -09/11/08 NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION MIDFIELDER STEVE RALSTON

Champion league hurts MLS image

“It’s a blessing in disguise for us to be out of that (Champions League) tournament... MLS is our bread and butter and we have to get back to that. We were dropping points where we didn’t need to be dropping points. We can now get back to concentrating just on that. We just have to concentrate on MLS business and it starts with Columbus.”-09/04/08 Revs Utility Player Khano Smith
